2011 Awards: Submission Guidelines

Who can enter?

The awards are open to all independent game developers, students and artists.  Entries may be made by either individuals or teams.

Deadline

To compete, an entry must be submitted to Freeplay Independent Games Festival Awards by 11:59pm on 25th July 2011 at the latest. An entry may be submitted by ordinary mail on CD/DVD or electronically via email.

It is recommended that you use registered post to submit your entry.

Categories

The categories are:

  • Best Game
  • Best International Game
  • Best Design in a Game
  • Best On-Paper Design
  • Best Art in a Game
  • Best Concept Art
  • Best Technical Innovation
  • Best Game Writing
  • Best Audio

Each of the judges will select one winner from the submissions for each category. The game with the most votes in a category is the “Winning Game” for that category.

Submission

To enter, simply fill in the online application form and email or post your entry to us.

Entries for the awards can be submitted in one of the following formats:

  • High resolution jpg, for concept art.
  • A link to a webpage, for online games.
  • A promo code and a link for mobile games.
  • A cd or DVD for PC games. The game should be directly runnable from the disc, or there should be a program that installs the game.
  • A word document or open office document file for on-paper designs.

Notification

Nominees will be notified via email on or before 8th August 2010 before the shortlisted projects are announced on the Freeplay website.

Shortlisting

Shortlisted projects will be requested to provide imagery or video for the Freeplay Awards ceremony no later than August 15.

Exhibition

Shortlisted projects will be given the opportunity to exhibit their project in the Experimedia Expo area of the State Library program on August 20 & 21.

Additional exhibition opportunities may become available post-festival. Freeplay will notify eligible projects for agreements and exhibition rights.
