We’re super excited to announce that Freeplay is a program partner for the delightful event Showtime Night Market – a collab between Testing Grounds and Rose Street Artists’ Market, who’ll bring you two night markets in summer 2019!

A different take on the night market idea, we’re pushing the limits of what to expect – think 80s high school science fair meets classic country show, meets contemporary art fair, all packed into a craft market and turned up to max frequency.

There’ll be market stalls by local artisans, good music by awesome Melbourne- based DJs, delicious food (hot & cold) and top notch drinks, as well as a huge array of fun activities facilitated by contemporary artists.

Learn to play your favourite pop song on the drums, sample squid ink cocktails, get body-scanned and uploaded into a virtual world, play a trumpet made of ice and turn an old TV in to an oscilloscope – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Join us on February 1st & March 1st for some good times.

Say hello to our Freeplay artists!

Joining us at the Showtime Night Market will be Cecile Richard (1st Feb) & Mo Chamas (1st March).

Cecile Richard is a game designer and illustrator who predominantly works with Bitsy, a lo-fi game making tool. They will be exhibiting Novena, a surreal poetic game about comforting a friend, and will be demonstrating and talk about the simplicity of Bitsy.

Mo Chamas is a digital artist and game designer, and has recently completed his Honours at RMIT. His work explores Sufi mysticism and ethno-cultural identity, and will be exhibiting his latest VR artgame سايبر تصوف (cyber tasawwuf).
